Last week in the framework of the auto show in Los Angeles, Mazda introduced the “treshku” the new, fourth generation.
Longtime fans of the Japanese company were somewhat surprised at the fact that traditionally most driversa from a massive Mazda got semi rear suspension – they say, it’s the destruction of the brand driving rules.
The overall impression, however, smoothed the stunning design and the promise of four-wheel drive versions in conjunction with MKP that every muscovado – balm for the soul. That’s only hot hatch the new Mazda 3, as it turned out, will not ever.
The head of the company Mazda, Akira Marumoto in an interview with the Australian edition of Drive, said that the revival of a charged line MPS (stands for Mazda Performance Series), is not a priority and what to expect sports cars from Mazda in the future is not worth it. Instead, the company will strengthen the emerging a few years ago the trend in its premium class models: the design becomes more refined, the materials used – higher quality, and technology more advanced.
Recall that the new “treshka” the first of Mazda and the innovation of gasoline engine Skyactiv-X, in which fuel combustion occurs partly from compression, which allows to achieve efficiency as diesel, but without the need to install expensive system for purification of exhaust gases.
What’s to rotary engines, they are from Mazda will appear, but not for sports cars, and hybrids – it would be very compact machines that are used in an extension of the cruising range for electric vehicles. Interestingly, to produce such hybrids is the Mazda together with Toyota.
Will be in the lineup and a pure electric car, and Mazda is developing its own without Toyota. The debut is scheduled for 2020. Previously Joe Stenuit, the new chief designer of the European branch of the Japanese company, said that the first Maslowski electric car “will remind the refrigerator”, but, as said Akira, Marumoto, and will never be a sports car.
Marumoto, repeatedly and with some like fatigue, stressed that the theme of sports cars for Mazda closed. Spectacular coupe RX-Vision, Shine at Tokyo auto salon 2015 was just a harbinger of the design philosophy Kodo, brilliantly implemented on the new “three-ruble note”, but no serial coupe with rotary or any other power unit, can be expected.
But there is good news. Marumoto promised that the Mazda will never lose steering, and the autopilot feature and if will be proposed, as an emergency: if the driver suddenly becomes ill, your car taxied to a safe place and call the emergency services.
