Alan Shulman was driving his 2011 Chevrolet Camaro eastbound in the far left thru-lane of West Oakland Park Boulevard approaching Northwest 18th Avenue about 6 p.m. Sunday. About an hour later, he was pronounced dead at Broward Health Medical Center, investigators said.
According to the crash report, a 2003 Mitsubishi Outlander was disabled with driver Maritza Gramage, 74, of Fort Lauderdale, stopped in the left turn lane of eastbound West Oakland Park Boulevard.
Martin Irusta-Magni, 26, of Hallandale Beach, pulled up behind Gramage in his Mazda CX-5 to make a left turn and Ebony Lewis, 30, of Fort Lauderdale, stopped her Cadillac XTS behind his Mazda.
When Lewis tried to exit the turn lane, she pulled into the path of Shulman’s Camaro and her Cadillac was side-swiped on the passenger side. The impact spun her SUV counter clockwise and it struck the passenger side of the Mazda, investigators said.
The front of the Camaro then struck the Mistubishi and came to rest on top of the median. The other vehicles ended up scattered in the eastbound lanes of West Oakland Park Boulevard.
Investigators said Shulman was not wearing a seat belt. Gramage was taken to Florida Medical Center while Irusta-Magni and Lewis stayed at the scene of the crash and cooperated with investigators.
